Traditions Made Modern
Pueblo pottery and Navajo textiles form the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture and Latin American textiles for the Museum of International Folk Art inspired the 10 rugs in the Traditions Made Modern collection. These rugs have a graphic clarity and rhythimic coverage of field that make them at ease in modern settings as well as rustic folk schemes. Shades of cream, taupe, red and black remain true to the original natural dyes used by tribal artisans. Olive, sage and dusky blue hues allude to landscapes of the region and endow the rugs with a feeling of timelessness.
